# QR ordering for hotels: the pool bar, the terrace and the room charge

A hotel’s food and drink is sold where the guest is sitting: by the pool, on the terrace, at the bar. GoRunny puts a QR code there, takes the order and the payment from the guest’s phone, and, since November 2026, lets the guest charge it to the room so the front desk settles it at check-out. This page says what that does today, and what it does not.

## A code on every sunbed

Tables in GoRunny are free-text labels grouped by area: “Pool 12”, “Terrace 4”, “Lobby bar 2”. Each gets its own QR code, printed from the admin. A guest scans the one in front of them, reads the menu in their own language and orders; the kitchen or bar sees which sunbed it is for.

The menu speaks 201 languages, 66 of them marked as approximate, and every translation is yours to edit: the first screen an international guest sees is in their language, without a waiter translating.

## Pay from the phone, or charge it to the room

Every order is paid one of three ways, chosen by the guest at the table.

**Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay**

Through the hotel’s own account with Stripe, Mollie, Unzer or SumUp; the money goes to the hotel, GoRunny takes no commission. Split by items, with a tip.

**Charge to my room**

The guest types the room number and surname. The order waits until a member of staff confirms the room on the floor screen (one tap: the row says “Room 204 · Huber · €23.40”), then goes to the kitchen and is posted to the room’s ledger. A wrong name is declined and the order cancelled.

**Cash or the hotel’s own terminal**

The guest calls the staff from the bill; the waiter closes it as paid in cash or on the hotel’s terminal.

Room charge is switched on per venue in the settings, with an optional note the guest sees (“Charges are added to your room bill at check-out”). It is included in every plan at no extra charge.

## The room ledger at the front desk

The admin’s Rooms page lists every room with an open balance, the oldest charge first: the guest’s surname, how many charges, the open amount, since when. A room can be opened to see each charge (time, table, order number, items, who confirmed it), printed as a statement for the guest, and marked settled by a manager with a note once the guest has paid at the desk. Everything exports as CSV.

The day close shows room charges as their own tender, kept out of the cash expected in the drawer; the finance report labels them; the accounting export books them to a receivables account of your choosing.

## Who issues the receipt

GoRunny never signs a room charge. The guest has not paid yet; the hotel’s own register issues the receipt, in Austria the RKSV-signed one, when the room is settled at check-out, as it does for everything else on the folio. GoRunny records each charge as “receipt by the venue’s register” and will not issue a receipt of its own for it later.

A guest who pays by card or wallet at the sunbed gets a GoRunny receipt as any guest does: on the Annual and Seasonal plans RKSV-signed through fiskaly in Austria; on the Monthly plan the hotel’s own register signs.

## What it is not

- Not a PMS connection: there is no link to Opera, Mews, Protel or any property system. The front desk posts the statement or the CSV into its own system by hand.
- Not a folio: GoRunny holds the F&B charges of a stay, not the room rate, the minibar or the spa.
- Not a breakfast or room-service module: a room can order from its own QR code like any table, but there is no breakfast package, no delivery slot and no runner dispatch.

## Questions

### Can a guest charge a drink at the pool to the room?

Yes. The guest chooses “Charge to my room” in the basket, types the room number and surname, and a member of staff confirms it on the floor screen before the order goes to the bar. The charge then appears on the room’s ledger for the front desk.

### Does GoRunny connect to our PMS?

No. There is no PMS connection. The Rooms page shows every open room; the statement is printed or the CSV exported and posted into your system by hand.

### Who issues the receipt for a room charge?

The hotel’s own register, at check-out, when the guest pays the room: in Austria the RKSV-signed receipt. GoRunny never signs a room charge.

### What does the room charge ledger cost?

Nothing on top: it is part of every plan, from €69 a month billed yearly.

### Can the pool bar and the restaurant share one menu?

A venue in GoRunny has its menus and its areas; a hotel can run one venue with several areas and menus, or one venue per outlet with its own menu and staff. Both exist today.
