Pay at the table

# Pay at the table: how a GoRunny guest settles the bill

A guest at a GoRunny table orders first and pays when they are done, from their own phone, without waiting for the bill or the card machine. This page follows the payment from the moment the guest taps Pay to the receipt, as the product does it today.

## Order now, pay at the end

The basket sends the order to the kitchen without a payment; the guest can order another round the same way. When they are done, Pay opens the bill for the table: every order sent from that table, with what each guest added.

On a table’s first order of a sitting, the payment waits until a waiter has confirmed the table on the floor screen: the guest sees “Your waiter is confirming your table” for a moment. From then on the table pays without asking.

## Split the bill three ways

Before paying, the guest chooses what to pay for. There is no “divide by four” for guests on purpose: a split by items is one nobody argues about.

**Pay all**

The whole bill of the table, in one payment.

**My items**

Only what this guest added to the basket. A dish several guests added is paid by all of them together, or with Pay all.

**Selected items**

Any set of items from the bill, chosen by hand.

A partial payment leaves the table open for the others; the last payment closes it and shows the full receipt.

## Tip

The guest picks 0, 5, 10 or 15 percent, or nothing. The tip is written to the order at settlement and goes to the venue with the payment; GoRunny takes nothing from it.

## How the guest pays

The money goes to the venue’s own account with Stripe, Mollie, Unzer or SumUp; GoRunny never holds it and takes no commission.

**Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay**

With Stripe, the guest pays inside the menu: a card field, or Apple Pay and Google Pay where the phone offers them.

**iDEAL, Bancontact and more**

With Mollie, Unzer or SumUp, the guest is taken to that provider’s own payment page and back; the methods are the ones the venue has switched on there, iDEAL and Bancontact included with Mollie.

**Cash or the venue’s own terminal**

The guest calls the waiter from the bill. The waiter sees the table’s bill on the floor screen and closes it as paid in cash or on the venue’s own card terminal, in one tap.

The guest pays from the phone: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through the venue’s own provider.

## Where GoRunny cannot sign, the staff take the payment

In Austria a payment taken at the table is a cash sale under the RKSV and needs a signed receipt. On the Annual and Seasonal plans GoRunny signs it through fiskaly. On the Monthly plan, or while a venue’s signing is not live yet, the menu does not take the payment itself: the guest chooses card or cash, the waiter is called, and the venue’s own register issues the receipt.

## The receipt

When the table is paid, the guest’s phone shows the receipt: every item, the tip, the payment, and in Austria the RKSV signature with its QR code. The guest can print it or save it as a PDF, have it sent to an e-mail address that GoRunny does not store, and leave a rating from one to five stars.

The table closes itself once every order is paid, so the floor plan shows it free and the next guests can scan the same code.

Der Beleg, den der Gast bekommt: in Österreich RKSV-signiert, mit dem QR-Code der Signatur.

## What the waiter sees

- One bill per table, built by the server: the waiter never adds it up by hand
- Paid cash, paid card, take an amount for change or a tip, print the bill (marked as not a receipt), close the table
- Split by guest, evenly into 2 to 12 shares, or by item; a split by item becomes real orders with their own receipts, the other two are print-only slips

## What it is not

- Not a payment processor: the venue’s own Stripe, Mollie, Unzer or SumUp account takes the money
- No “divide the bill evenly” for guests: that split is the waiter’s, by item is the guest’s
- No tipping on the venue’s own card terminal: the tip is chosen on the phone, or handled at the terminal as the venue always has

## Questions

### Do guests need an app to pay at the table?

No. The menu, the order and the payment run in the phone’s browser. Apple Pay and Google Pay appear where the phone offers them.

### Can one guest pay only their own part?

Yes: “My items” pays what that guest added, “Selected items” any chosen set. The rest of the table pays later; the table stays open until the last payment.

### Who gets the tip?

The venue, with the payment. GoRunny takes no commission on the payment or the tip.

### Is a QR payment at the table RKSV-compliant in Austria?

Yes. On the Annual and Seasonal plans GoRunny signs the receipt through fiskaly; on the Monthly plan the venue’s own register signs, and the guest pays the waiter.

### What does pay at the table cost?

It is part of every plan, from €69 a month billed yearly; the card fee is the venue’s own provider’s, with no mark-up.
